Some graduate schools, depending on the competition of applicants, will invite potential students to interview. If you are given the chance to interview, take it. Interviewing at a professional school will give you the chance to get to know your field better, get to know the campus better, get to know the professors you may be working with better, and will give you a feel for the area you will be living in for the next two to seven years. Additionally, attending an on-site interview will show your initiative and interest in going to a particular university. Interviewing may give you an advantage over equally qualified candidates who did not choose to interview with the university. Interviewing allows professors to get to know you as more than just your personal statement and transcripts, and displays your communication skills for them. For this reason, it is important to attend an interview well prepared. |
