Service Opportunities
It is important for students to get involved early in their education both in
community/volunteer services and other service learning projects. Getting involved promotes
learning beyond the classroom and gives students excellent experiences for building a strong
resume. There are several ways students can get involved on campus, a few of which are listed
below.

AmeriCorps
A domestic version of the Peace Corps that provides grant based community service. Students
receive an educational award and stipend in return for service focusing on youth at risk in
the Carbondale Area.
Saluki Volunteer Corp
Saluki Volunteer Corp is open to all students. The program helps students get involved in
educational and service learning on both a short-term and long term basis in the community.
Students can request a student involvement transcript.
