- SIUC's Workforce Education and Development (WED) graduate program has been rated the 10th best specialty program in the country according to U.S. News and World Report's April 10, 2006 “ America 's Best Graduate Schools.” The program's largest component is education training and development, which prepares students to work as training development professionals and focuses on training people who already have work experience on how to become effective trainers, how to develop training materials, deliver training and evaluate its effectiveness.
- No. 1! - SIUC's Automotive Technology program has been ranked No. 1 in the nation. The Automotive Industry Planning Council (AIPC) ranking, announced December 8, 2005, comes for the third time to SIUC. The program received the top ranking nationwide in 1993 and 1999 also. The AIPC is a national advisory group of industry leaders, vocational/technical educators and education policy makers. Schools winning the AIPC award can reapply every five years.
- Top-ranked Rehabilitation Counseling Program — SIUC's graduate programs in Rehabilitation Counseling tied for third best in the nation according to the respected 2006 "America's Best Graduate Schools" guide released in early April by U.S. News & World Report.
